Additionally, the department is home to the Atlantic Ocean and many beautiful sandy beaches. Another thing that makes the department so special is its stunning mountain ranges, such as those found in the Parc National des Pyrénées. Biarritz is a popular vacation destination on the seaside in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. Biarritz is a lovely town that attracts surfers from all over the world. The beautiful sandy beaches in this city make it a popular vacation spot for surfers to hang out and relax. Many annual surfing contests and events are held in Biarritz, which is another reason why it is a popular vacation spot for surfers. The city of Biarritz is a popular seaside resort, and during these events the city is captivated by the surfers and the surfing. Besides having nice beaches, there are many other things to see and do in Biarritz culturally. One thing that stands out is the lighthouse, which is symbol of Biarritz. Bayonne is a nice town in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques. The city is home to about 50,000 people, and is the capital of the French Basque Country. Two rivers, the Nive and the Adour, meet in Bayonne. The Romans built multiple fortifications to protect the city on the main road to Spain many centuries ago. This city was important for trade of different goods during the Hundred Years War, and has been an important strategic point on the road ever since. This city has seen many sights constructed throughout history, and some of them can still be seen today. Known for its beautiful Basque culture, Bayonne has a cathedral (Saint-Marie Cathedral), in the middle of the city. The outside of the houses in Bayonne are very nice, with many different colors and beautiful facades. There are also a few museums worth visiting, such as the Musée Basque. In the citys botanical garden, you can relax completely among the beautiful trees and plants. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this is the place for you.
